Recently, Lord Grizzly "Big Schooner" Brown, a.k.a. Thomas E. Momsen, Tommy per cousin Dana, graduated from The Mattox Firearm School in Bradner, Ohio!!! I scored a 100% on the written test, and hit the kill zone with every shot qualifying on the gun range!!! It was one hell of an experience!!! I first arrived at Mattox's Firearm School early in the morning, and I was at first a little intiminated by the complex. It is a very professional complex with log cabins as your classroom, indoor firing range, and relief facility(toilet)...with a very nice outdoor firing range as well. I was about to be schooled on taking on a "life-or-death" responsibility...I was about to be schooled on all aspects of carryiing a concealed firearm...which could very easily turn into a life or death scenario at any minute or second...in which I personally hope I NEVER have to use my firearm unless it's on the firing range or in competition. Right away, Jack Mattox, Chief Instructor, got right into the text books...in which one contained 17 chapters, although short, very informative, that covered the laws of firearms, and the proper handling and care of your firearm. Once we completed the classroom section of the course, I took the test and scored 100%...and if I can do it, anybody can...and long as you remain focused and ask questions as needed during instruction in the classroom. If you are NOT sure about something...ASK...HEAR ME...ASK...because when it comes to entering the world of carrying a concealed firearm that could ALTER or END YOUR WORLD or SOMEONE ELSE'S WORLD...NO QUESTION IS A DUMB OR STUPID QUESTION!!! If it looks like your not sure about something during class...and Mr. Mattox telegraphs that...he will call you out on it...because that is how right to the book and tee Mattox's Firearm School is!
So, we headed from the classroom...following my 100% on the written test thanks to Mr. Mattox making everything understandable and perfectly clear...to the indoor firing range so I could get qualifion live firing of a firearm. I made a kill shot every time...poking the bullseye 5 times...and keeping my shots inside the circled target. I used a 9mm and .22 pistol. After qualifying, Jack had his .454 pistol, which is a beast, put it in a lane, and told me to go ahead and fire it.
Well, I told Mr. Mattox earlier that I would fire that .454 with no problem. I'd give it a go. This weapon is a beast!!! I looked at it, and told Jack I let my "alligator mouth overload my hamster ass" when I told him I would fire that .454 with ease. My hip and back was hurting like hell, and my shoulder was aching, so I asked Mr. Mattox to show me how that monster fired. He fired 3 shots from that hand cannon that almost launched him and I to the moon! That .454 is a badass mammy jammer for sure!!
Later that evening, inside The Man Cave with Jeff Lamb, I was verbally assaulted by Mr. Mattox and a few others for backing away from the .454. I deserved it! I put my foot in my mouth. I survived the entire day, and felt like a winner!!! And I want to THANK Jack Mattox and Mattox's Firearm School for making it possible to earn an OHIO CONCEAL & CARRY WEAPON(CCW) LICENSE!!! It was very interesting, and I learned things I never knew or thought would exist in the laws and ettiquette of shooting!!!
In the horrifying shadow of what happened in Connecticutt, Colorado, and the horror that continues to happen...I felt it was time to arm myself LEGALLY...and with the KNOWLEDGE of HOW to handle situations if I would ever NEED TO PRESENT MY WEAPON TO ATTEMPT TO CONTAIN OR CEASE ANY THREAT TO MY LIFE, MY FAMILY'S LIFE, OR WHERE APPLICABLE IN THE MOST EFFICIENT MANNER POSSIBLE!!! Then, of all the damnest things, firefighters became targets of these evil kooks!!!
What is AWESOME about Mattox's Firearm School, in light of many school systems throughout America allowing school staffs, such as janitors, building engineers, nurses, principals, or of the such, to carry a concealed weapon inside the school buildings, as long as they have had proper training, Mr. Mattox has an INCREDIBLE SPECIAL FOR ANY SCHOOL OR BOARD OF EDUACTION EMPLOYEE!!! I think that is very cool of Mr. Mattox to provide that!!! Also...FIREFIGHTERS, PARAMEDICS, EMT'S, and ANYBODY IN THE FIRE SERVICE will get the same package.
