I don't know about you, but I'm a very emotional person, and some things will bring tears to my eyes.  I don't care who knows it, I don't hide it!!!  When my tears are from ANGER...people run for cover!!!  But, other than that, I am a softy, I guess.  Well, a behavioral neuro-psychiatrist from University College London just released a major paper on why humans cry.  We dug through and pulled out five interesting facts:

#1.) If you are sitting next to a friend during a movie and they start crying, that makes you more likely to cry.  When a movie tugs at the 'heart strings', I am the first one to start crying in a movie theatre!!!

#2.) The other thing that makes you cry during a movie is music.  You are more likely to cry from that than the plot.  Good example..."Old Yeller"!

#3.) People say MUSIC is the thing that's most likely to make them cry, not just during movies, but in general.  Whenever I hear 'Silent Night', 'White Christmas', and the older Christmas songs during the holidays, I cry like a baby!  Books are second, and poetry is third.

#4.) 85% of women and 73% of men say they feel better after they cry.  That isn't always true with me!  It all depends on WHAT triggered my tears and WHY.

#5.) Humans are the ONLY species that cry from emotions, not just pain.  And it's because our brains are the furthest advanced, and capable of that level of compassion according to The New York Times.
